Dr. Samin K. Sharma is the Senior Vice-President, Operations & Quality at Mount Sinai Heart, the Director of Interventional Cardiology at The Mount Sinai Health System, the President of the Mount Sinai Heart Network and The Anandi Lal Sharma Professor of Medicine in Cardiology. He is a renowned interventional cardiology expert, well known for performing high-risk complex coronary interventions (more than 1,500 interventions per year) with an extremely high success rate (greater than 99 percent) while achieving an extremely low complication rate (less than 0.2 percent major complication). He has received the prestigious two-star designation (significantly lower than expected mortality) numerous times by the New York State Department of Health. Under Dr. Sharma’s leadership, The Mount Sinai Hospital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory has become one of the safest and busiest centers in New York, providing state-of-the-art cardiac and interventional care for all types of simple and complex heart patients. In addition to coronary interventions, Dr. Sharma also specializes in TAVR and MitraClip procedures. He has been dubbed “master of Rotablator” and is regularly featured on national and local TV and in newspapers & magazines.

Annapoorna Kini, MD, MRCP, FACC is an endowed Zena and Michael A Wiener Professor of Medicine, Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, Program Director of Interventional Cardiology Fellowship and Director of Structural Heart Intervention Program. Dr. Kini is an international leader in the field of percutaneous coronary intervention and heart valve therapy. Dr. Kini is internationally acclaimed for her special expertise in performing complex and high-risk interventional cases especially in chronic total occlusion, calcific and bifurcation lesions. She has an extensive experience with the techniques of mitral, aortic balloon valvuloplasty. She has been among the first interventionalist to use TAVR implantation and performs MitraClip procedures. Dr. Kini is a high volume operator, with an extremely low complication rate of less than 0.3 percent; an official report from The Department of Health recognized Dr. Kini as the safest operator among 350 other physicians in the state of New York numerous times. She is the recipient of 2011 Dean's Award for Excellence in Clinical Medicine at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. Physician of the year award in 2014 by the Mount Sinai Hospital nurses. Excellence in Medicine Award by the National Association of Physicians of India (AAPI) in July 2016. She received the prestigious, Ellis Island Medal of Honor in May 2017, which is the highest award given to any immigrant civilian. She is the recipient of AHA “The Heart of Gold Award”, June 2018 and Jacobi Medallion Award 2019 for Breakthroughs in Clinical Care.

Roxana Mehran, MD, FACC, FACP, FCCP, FESC, FAHA, MSCAI; Mount Sinai Professor in Cardiovascular Clinical Research and Outcomes; Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and Population Health Science and Policy at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is an internationally renowned interventional cardiologist, and clinical research expert in the field of cardiovascular disease. She has built a globally respected academic research center focused on developing randomized clinical trials and has served as principal investigator for numerous global studies, developed risk scores for bleeding and acute kidney injury, participates regularly in developing clinical guidelines, and has authored >1,000 peer-reviewed articles. She has been included for three consecutive years in Clarivate Analytics: “Most Cited Researchers – Top 1%” as well as “The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds” (Thomson Reuters). Dr. Mehran is a current member of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Board of Trustees. She is a founder and Chief Scientific Officer of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF) and founded Women as One, dedicated to advancing opportunities for women in medicine. Dr. Mehran is a recipient of several awards including the 2016 American College of Cardiology Bernadine Healy Leadership in CV disease award, the 2018 Nanette Wenger Award from Women’s Heart for excellence in research and education, the 2019 Ellis Island Medal of Honor, and the 2019 ESC Silver Medal and Andreas Grüntzig Lecture plaque.

Chief Nurse Executive - Senior Vice President of Cardiac Services

In this role, Dr. Oliver is responsible for the practice of nursing across the Health System and collaborates with the senior executive team as well as Chief Nursing Officers throughout Mount Sinai. Her top priorities are ensuring the safety and quality of care for our patients, supporting and advancing the professional development of our nurses, transforming the care we provide around the needs of our patients and communities, and partnering on our transition from volume to value. In addition, Dr. Oliver continues to develop and maintain Mount Sinai’s national reputation for excellence in nursing services. In collaboration with executive leadership and the site Chief Nursing Officers, she participates in the organization’s strategic plan—setting annual and long-term performance goals—and leverages the Health System’s nursing excellence to advance the achievement of strategic goals, optimize clinical outcomes, enhance employee engagement, and promote a best-in-class patient experience. For more than 28 years, Dr. Oliver has been a transformational cardiac nurse leader at Mount Sinai, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Cardiac Services for the Health System. In this role, she led cardiovascular service line strategy and operations for the Health System while also ensuring the delivery of quality care to Mount Sinai Heart patients. In addition to her Mount Sinai leadership roles, Dr. Oliver has led numerous cardiovascular health-related community outreach programs in partnership with the American Heart Association. In July 2018, Dr. Oliver was appointed President of the American Heart Association’s Board of Directors in New York City, becoming the first nurse to hold the position of Board President. Dr. Oliver is committed to advancing population health and the current and future role of nurses. Dr. Oliver received her MS from Columbia University and her DNP from Case Western Reserve University.
