Jennifer S. Lawton, MD is the Richard B. Darnall Professor of Surgery, Chief of the Division of Cardiac Surgery, Johns Hopkins University. She also serves as Cardiac Surgeon - In - Chief for Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Laboratory. Dr. Lawton has active basic science and clinical research interests. Lawton has authored more than 135 peer reviewed manuscripts and has made numerous national and international presentations. She is a member of the American Surgical Association and the Society of Clinical Surgery, and she is a fellow of the ACS and of the AHA. She serves on various committees of national organizations including the AATS, STS, STSA, and former President of the Women in Thoracic Surgery. She is a past Vice Chair of the ACGME Residency Review Committee for Thoracic Surgery. She serves as Deputy Editor for the Annals of Thoracic Surgery and on the editorial board of the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and she serves as a guest reviewer for multiple other journals. Dr. Lawton’s basic science laboratory has been funded by the Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education, the American Heart Association, and the NIH.
