Patrick T. O'Gara, MD, MACC, FAHA, FESC, is the Watkins Family Distinguished Chair in Cardiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. O'Gara served as President of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) in 2014-15. He is the Co-Director of the ACC Board Review Course and Editor-in-Chief of the ACC Collaborative Maintenance Programs (CMPs), spanning general cardiology, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure and adult congenital heart disease. O’Gara served as Chair of the American Heart Association's (AHA's) Council on Clinical Cardiology in 2003-2005 and is a current member of the Scientific Advisory and Coordinating Committee (SACC). He chaired the writing committee for the 2013 ACC/AHA Guideline for the Management of Patients with ST-Elevation MI and has participated in several other guideline (Valvular Heart Disease, Radionuclide Imaging, Dual Anti-Platelet Therapy), expert consensus, scientific advisory and appropriate use criteria writing groups. O’Gara is Deputy Editor for JAMA Cardiology and a member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Circulation. He is a senior investigator for the NHLBI Cardiothoracic Surgery Trial Network and a member of the Heart Valve Collaboratory’s Executive Committee.
